Byron Bay Restaurant wins National Award

Local Byron Bay restaurant O-Sushi has recently won “Australia’s favourite Japanese” in the prestigious ‘I Love FOOD Awards 2010’, run by the Lifestyle Food Channel.
Established in 2004, first in Byron Bay and then in Coolangatta in 2007, O-Sushi has been recognised before as an outstanding eatery. In 2008 O-Sushi was awarded the ‘Best Sushi Bar’ in the northern NSW region the Restaurant and Catering Regional Awards for Excellence.
This is the eighth award for O-Sushi since opening its doors in July 2004.
“This is the most prestigious award for us”, says O-Sushi co-owner Dan Regev of Myocum, “it shows the great ongoing support we get from our local community to be chosen as the favourite Japanese restaurant all over Australia. I’d like to extend our thanks to all of our wonderful customers who voted for us.”
“The I Love FOOD Awards are unique as they reward Australia’s favourite places to eat out as chosen by the Australian public”, says an extract from the Lifestyle Food Channel’s press release announcing the winners. The results will be used to create an online eating out guide “like no other because the places are tried and tested by fellow food loving viewers”.
O-Sushi has no plans to rest on their laurels. “It’s fantastic to have verification from our customers that we’re doing a good job”, says Dan, “however it’s important that we keep working hard to deliver fresh, delicious and exciting offerings to our loyal customers. Still, we’re happy to celebrate the moment!”

2008 Restaurant & Catering Regional Awards for Excellence

Byron Bay locals have voted – this time with their stomachs!
It’s official! Byron Bay’s O-Sushi has been recognised as the best Sushi Bar in NSW at the Restaurant & Catering Regional Awards for Excellence held in the Hunter Valley this week. O-Sushi was the only winner in the Byron Bay region this year, and owner Dan Regev said he was “just ecstatic” about the news.
“This award really means a lot to the O-Sushi team because the nomination comes straight from the votes of the local community” Dan said.
The awards are based on customer votes in areas of food quality and consistency in customer service. An overwhelming number of Byron Bay locals voted, and ensured O-Sushi’s nomination. The restaurant was then assessed anonymously by a visiting judge and went on to win the Sushi Bar category for the Northern Rivers Region earlier this year.
